Finally, we only have two days to go for our anniversary weekend getaway. My sister and nieces and dogs are coming to watch over our 15-year-old Sheltie named Max, so for the internet police, my home won’t be vacant and available for pillaging. But seriously we are so ready to relax.
We will be staying at A Hill Country Haven in Wimberly, Texas. To learn more about our little hideaway, click here. It’s just a little over 500 square feet and it’s a true cottage. But look at how well they use the space, and how luxurious it looks. I’m excited to actually see how they pulled this off in person. And who doesn’t love having their very own private mini pool and hot tub?
But what’s in the little town of Wimberly, Texas? I don’t know yet, but I can tell you what’s all around it. Texas wine country, and I love wine! During our four-day stay, we plan on visiting Becker Vineyards where they will be hosting their annual Grape Stomp. I plan on participating by stomping grapes and then imprinting my berry covered feet onto a white shirt for a keepsake of my adventure, as seen in this link.
We will also be visiting Pedernales Cellars so that we can savor a glass of Merlot while gazing out at the gorgeous hill country. They have a really nice deck and there will be a live band on Saturday.
Another highlight is a little trip into the cute town of Fredericksburg, where Grape Creek, one of my favorite Texas wineries, has a little shop. There are so many cute shops in Fredericksburg, and we want to stroll along the streets and pop in here and there. So there may be some random blog posts about those things. Other than roaming the streets we don’t have a real plan for this part.
There’s also this cute little German restaurant that my husband wants to visit in New Braunfels called Alpine Haus. From what I’ve seen on review sites they serve authentic German food that sticks to your ribs. My husband was stationed in Germany so this will be a real treat for him.
If you’ve been following the links, you’ve had a glimpse of what the Texas Hill country looks like. A weekend full of drinking wine and looking out at the hilly countryside is waiting for us in just two days! Look for my posts when we get back so we can share our experience with you!
Looks amazing! And we get to stay at the Dodie’s Bed and Breakfast while you are away taking care of my four legged nephew! Win win for all!!!!
