Greetings and Happy Saturday! I hope everyone is ready for the weekend. My sister and fellow author, Devrie Spaulding, is coming to visit this weekend which I’m super excited about. We plan to get some writing done, including me getting started on the sequel to Rise of the Winged Assassin. I’ve added a new category called Writing Tools to my site where I’m going to add posts that include tools that I use to help with my writing, as well as tools that I use for inspiration, such as photos and music playlists. Today, I want to talk about one of my favorite tools, Pinterest.
In the past, back before Pinterest, yes I’m dating myself here, I used to look through magazines to find pictures of my characters and scenery to inspire my character building and world design. I had an idea in my mind of how I envisioned them to look, and would dig through magazines until I found something close, and then I’d cut them out for safe keeping in a notebook. I used these pictures to help me with character descriptions, and scenery descriptions, which I have found to be extremely helpful.
Today I no longer need the magazines and instead use Pinterest. There are so many more options out there, in fact, today I spent an enormous amount of time trying to find pictures of my two new characters for my sequel to Rise. I’m adding a new bad guy named Kazimir and a new healer named Azaria. There will be more to come about them in future posts. Until then, I keep my Pinterest images that belong to my book in a board called, you guessed it, on Rise of the Winged Assassin. My two new characters are there, along with the original cast for Rise of the Winged Assassin. You can follow this board using the link on the right of my page or by clicking here. You will recognize some of the actors and some you may not. I’m really excited that you can now add notes to the pictures that stick and don’t change as others pin them to their own boards. I don’t have a movie deal, but if I did, these are the people I see playing the characters.
I hope you enjoy my Pinterest Board and my new series on Writing Tools. Before I go, I’m leaving you with a teaser picture of my new bad guy Kazimir.
Until Next Time. Write Well and Prosper!
