All writer’s at some point hit that brick wall where they sit at the blank computer screen and wait for the story that isn’t coming. Normally, once I get started on writing a book, the words come freely, but that appears to be one of my issues right now. My first book Rise of the Winged Assassin is available in both paperback and digital form on Amazon and Barnes&N Noble, and the publicity phases for this book with Page Publishing Inc. will be starting in a few weeks. Every time I sit down to write, I start thinking about the best ways to help get the word out there about the book, instead of actually writing the sequel.
Funny thing is, I have a very clear vision of what is going to happen in book two and I even have a more detailed outline than my usual skeleton outline that just consists of a quick sentence on what happens at the start, middle and finish. I have a couple of new characters for the new book that I’m excited about too. I think in order to get past this I need to get used to simply sitting down to write, and to be accountable for that. So many times I sit here at this computer with the intention to write and then before you know it I’ve convinced myself that I have to do other things instead. Other things get in the way as well, for instance being on call for work this past week. My free time to write, including my one hour in the morning, was lost. It’s important to make writing a habit and sit in front of your computer at those designated times but I haven’t figured out how to make that happen with on call weeks and weekends.
I’m pretty good at planning so I’ve decided to use a couple of my writing prompt books that I onw. Each week, on Saturday, I will post the results of the writing prompt on this blog. I’m also going to do a shorter version of thi….
And there I went. LOL I literally just now had this urge to put clothes in the washer instead of finishing this blog post which is almost done. What is wrong with me? Okay I’m back. Let’s start over.
Each week I am going to post the results of a writing prompt exercise on this blog and then a shorter version of it on my Instagram. This way I can get out of this weird, almost fear of writing , and have a goal and deadline to get it done. I have great ideas for this next book and I want to get going on it so that I can share it with you.
Again, I feel the need to do the dishes, so I will go for now. Thank you for following me and being there. To know that you are there, reading my ramblings and following me through this journey, gives me the inspiration to keep writing. I love you all.
Check in on Saturday for some possibly crazy results of my first writing prompt.
Until then. Write Well and Prosper!
